Our 1704 violin varnish
variation makes an excellent finish for mandolins. Robb L.
Brophy, of Elkhorn
Mandolins, uses this on select mandolins. He likes the way
that it applies and the final result. Though not as hard as lacquer,
it has a beauty, depth and "organic" qualities that
are unmatched. Several of the instrument on his site are finished
with this varnish.
