I hope to be able to call myself that one day. As it is now I am simply making noise.

At age 56, I have been playing violin for a few weeks now. I am taking lessons. My fourth will be this week.

I had to upgrade because the origional violin I bought was ths the most inexpensive I could find. It's buried in the closet now. At some point I will be able to decide if I simply need new/different strings or an entire new rig.

Welcome to the forum LoneStar, and thanks for introducing yourself.

You'll find plenty of information on violin playing on this forum. However I must be up front with you - if you are looking for a community of violin players, all of them have moved on to www.violinist.com.

But, if you decide to stay here, I'm willing to share with you whatever I have learned. I played the violin since the age of 4. I'm not a professional, but have learned a few good things that have helped others along the way.

On this forum you may want to check out posts by AntonPolezhayev who is a professional violin player in New York.
