Hey Craig
Really glad to hear from you. Someone pm'd me and told me about this forum. I never knew it existed. Seems like alot of familiar people here. It's nice to now have another forum to learn from. Man, I really need to get out more.
Hey I'm really enjoying the info on rehairs you sent...Thanks again and I hope your feeling better.

Hi Ernie,

I make all my violin garlands with one-piece upper and lower bouts because it is easier IMO than two pieces, ensures a clean continuous look, and makes alignment of rib sections perfect. Yeh, I know you could get away with a two-piece upper, but read the previous sentence again. (laughs)

The lengths I use are

c-bouts: 140mm
upper-bout: 370mm
lower-bout: 440mm

I make a bunch of these and keep them in stock.

Mike

Thanks Ernie - I'm getting better all the time.
Glad you are enjoying the rehair info... Remember, if you run into difficulties when you try to apply any of that stuff - just call and we can run through any problematic area.

sometimes that's what it takes, especially if you never really SEEN it done in person.

I'm glad you found this place,

ct

To be honest Craig I have'nt actually tried rehairing yet but I'm getting closer. I'm hoping to get more into it this summer and will take you up on the offer and call you if/when I need to.
Are you building any instruments at the moment? I'm glad to be here. It seems like a good place to get no-nonsense answers.
