Chet is right about glue's power to flake glass. (In fact, I think that's what this process is called.) I use small Pyrex dishes placed in the bottom of my glue pot. If I forget to remove them before the glue dries out, the dish bottoms are flaked away by the hide glue.

I like the outward bulge of ribs and am always open to ideas on enhancing that effect. I have been tempted to put a slight bulge on the end blocks to enhance this, but I don't have the courage to try that. (LOL)

Another question to something briefly mentioned above: rib thickness. I find that ribs should be kept as close to 1 mm as possible. When I have 1.1 mm or greater they seem to easily crack during bending with the heat iron. Anyone go much below 1 mm?
