I glued the linings in the ribcage for a DelGesu Allard. I found some really light, resonate, grey old wood from a box at work. Thought it was spruce or pine, but it think it's yellow poplar. Anyway it bent fine and glued fine. My question is this: How much do you trim off the bottom of the linings on a DG? I've seen photos of DG copies and the seem pretty straight without much tapering at all. My other ones I tirimmed them back quite a bit, figuring they just add gluing surface. Seeing the photos made me think maybe there's more to them than that. |

As I recall from Hargrave's article in the Biddulph book on Del Gesu, Del Gesu generally did trim his linings. |

Thanks, I'll thin them, but I think I'll leave them thicker than I usually do. |
