Hi, I have a 1/4 violin with a low fingerboard (4mm between bottom of fingerboard and violin body). Can I just fit a lower bridge or should I fix the neck/fingerboard?
thanks

With small instruments it's particularly important to get all of the bridge height you can. I'd get the neck pulled up somehow.

thanks for the advice.
I've seen some violins with a wedge under the fingerboard to raise it...is this an option?
(It's a decent student violin, but a student model nonetheless and it's not worth putting a lot of time/work into. I'd still like to salvage it though)

There are many possible ways to do it. It sounds like time to involve a shop person.
