Hi there, I came across this set at an estate sale this weekend.
I currently have no plans to make violins. When I purchased the set, I was more excited by the amount of carving tools, wood and clamps that came with it. I plan to keep those things not shown in the pic for my pipe-making adventures. I work in harder woods and some of the stuff I picked up is perfect. I just hate the thought of having all of this great stuff and keeping it from someone else that would want to use it. I am up for a trade or even a donation if the reason is right. My second thought is to take the forms, sand them down and create shadow boxes for some of my friends that have family that play violin. I think that would be pretty neat. But again, I don't know the value of what I have. So, if I were to destroy or ruin something special, again I would feel pretty low. Any advice would rock.

Here is a link to where images of the lot can be seem-(not sure how to post)

Hi kjb
I too am curious what to do next. I make pipes for fun and the thought of taking on a violin is interesting, but pretty daunting. I live in North east Indiana. Here is a better grouping of pics.

Though it's all good stuff any violin maker would love to have, there's nothing rare or exotic in the mix.

I'd be curious to know who the violin maker is/was but I suppose that would be almost impossible to find out!
