Found this in a free box, I know vintage guitar parts are usually in high demand, but considering the age and horrible condition of this, would it be of interest to someone/anyone as a fixer upper or parts violin?

Here are some pics. It also came with a few bridges which are not pictured.

I have no idea about violins, but the answer to "worth saving?" is always yes.

Your pictures are quite fuzzy, so it's kind of hard to tell exactly what's going on there, but I'd say no, it's not worth saving. There is some strange stuff with some of the parts associated with the edging, and I can't even tell if all the parts are there. Can't even tell if it's really a Testore. There is no market for old scraps of wood like this.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to look into whether or not it's a real Testore, and if so keep it just because it'd be very interesting Smile Especially since this is 1764 and he died in 1765, if it's real it could be one of his last.

If it was mine, I'd have it in the shop as something that I could slowly restore as I did other things.
Simply because.
If somebody would reduce the size of those photos it would be much easier to read these posts, and continue on with this conversation? Perhaps the original poster can either reduce them or remove them now that they've been seen?

I think if there's any chance of saving a violin this old, whether the label is correct or not, it should be kept, and restored if possible.
