I have no idea how this will be--maybe I will want to hide afterwards--but CBS Sunday morning is doing a bit this week that supposedly involves our shop. They came last summer and shot quite a bit of video that was intended to go with a piece on the Stradivari violin that was stolen in Milwaukee (that I care for), but didn't run anything at the time. Now they called and said they will be running the piece Sunday, but it being old news, I don't know how they will be configuring it. Anyway. . . . if you're free Sunday AM. . . _________________ new blog at my site! http://darntonviolins.com/blog

This is listed on CBS for Upcoming Show:
VIOLINS: String Theory
Musicians agree that the best violins are still the ones made three centuries ago in a small town in Italy. Dean Reynolds experiences the magic up close with concert violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, and meets a Chicago violinmaker still creating instruments the old-fashioned way.

Very nice! A little less Meyers and a bit more Darnton would have been better - but good all the same.

Yes, nice piece and I agree with what Ed said. Still it was good to see!
Whenever I see pieces like this or photos, I have to wonder if the violins get some TLC before the video is shot. The reason I ask is that they seem to look so glossy. Do they get polished before the camera starts rolling or are Ms. Akiko Meyers violins normally that glossy? Look around 3:00 minutes and then again at around 6:18. I've noticed this in other videos or photo shoots by different violinists as well.

Thanks for sharing that, Michael.
I was glad to be able to point you out and say, "That's my teacher!" and especially glad to get a close-up view of the arching of those two violins.
Thanks again.
