I can take violin lessons from a nearby music studio however the lessons are only 30 minutes which seem a little short. There is another music studio an hour away that gives violin lessons for one hour and a private instructor who gives 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons also an hour away? Please tell me what you think, is 30 minutes too short? My wife says start with the close lessons and see how they progress and if necessary you/me can always change to the other instructors. What's you thoughts? Thanks.

Hi violinguy, I would say it depends on how long you have been playing
the violin. If you are a beginner, or even a first year player, 30 minutes
is a long time. You will get tired very quick, lower your violin, lay your
wrist back and palm the neck, and a lot of other bad things will begin to
happen. That was my experience.
I agree with your wife. Start with the close, 30 minute lessons, and as your
skill progresses, Move on to the longer ones. If you are already a fairly
skilled player, then the 1 hour lessons are fine. |
