Has anyone used a Stanley no. 80 type cabinet scraper to reduce the thickness of the ribs?

I have one of those that I used to use for guitar sides, but it seems too aggressive for violins. I have one of these-- https://www.lie-nielsen.com/product/scraping-planes/small-scraping-planes?node=4075 --I bought it with the idea that it might be good for violins, but it is also too aggressive. Truthfully, a plain thick rectangular scraper works great for this and I can't imagine anything better:
