I buy end mills from the machine shop supply house, just slightly under 1/16.
After a second pass, there's enough wobble and error that the groove works out to be about 1/16" in the end.
The whole trick is to have absolute rock solid control over the cutting process. If you don't have a solid hold on everything, you can experience chatter or runaway, and that's when the boo boo damage occurs.
I fasten the plate down solid so it can't move, and I run the tool around the edge on a piece of arborite topped plywood. The arborite surface is fairly low friction. I use a foot switch to start the dremel when I plunge cut at the beginning, and let the bit come to a complete stop before removing it at the end of the cut. _________________ Bill |
