Hi Folks....
I'm just getting at a violin I acquired several years ago and would like some thoughts on how you would proceed.

1- Would you replace the bass bar or reglue the existing one which is partially unglued ... the existing one is on the thin side at 4.5 mm thick and 14.5 mm high at the center including the top which is 4.0 mm thick beside the bar at the center.
2- The varnish... do you think the heavy leathery texture is of the original varnish with the smooth under coat/ sealer or is this a later applied soft varnish that has dried... what would you do with it?? ... I kinda like the look... but it is very exaggerated.
Thanks... Mat
