How many notes away is each string away from breaking? How many notes can a safely tune up without risking breakage?

A mighty abstract question. Are you wanting to play in a tuning that's higher than the normal one? If so, choose strings that will survive at the pitch you're tuning them too. (And by the way, your violin also needs to survive the tension you put on it.)

I want to know how many notes each string is away from breaking on a full size violin.

Hmm. In that case your best bet is to just crank strings up till they break, and take careful note of what pitch they reached before snapping. You'll want to try strings of all the various materials, brands, and tension ratings. Keep a good record and post it here! Very Happy

It seems to me that you need to be guided by when you pull on the strings that you have available. In this case, you need to keep track of at what stage they break

It depends on the width of the strings and their quality

Try the test with gut strings .A snapping gut is a better test of your nerves. It will happen much sooner than a steel string. A steel string snapping might put your eye out . That gives you a chance for a better question . How many eyes do you need to play a violin ? Or is it better to wear goggles to protect your eyes when playing ? To quote Picasso --"Computers are no good, they only give you answers ".
