Hello all, I am a newbie here, just wanted to say that this looks like a great site, I ran across it while researching. I have been playing the violin for 8 years, I enjoy it very much.

I recently just bought an electric violin over the internet, it is being shipped currently. I have never played an electric violin before and was just wondering how it compares in performance to an acoustic violin? Also, I was just wondering, does an electric violin require special strings and a bow or will regular acoustic strings and normal bow work aswell?

Does anyone have any personal opinions or feedback on their own electric violins?

What kind and model did you order? I have one on my wish-list, so am curious about the replies to your post.

The one I bought is a DEV 2000, I could not find much about it on the internet, So I am not sure the quality or performance of it, But i think it is very cool looking, I can post pics when I do get it, If any one else has this make or model or knows of it, What do you think about it?
