Writing for advice. I’m the process of removing the ribs from the mould, the top block cracked. I guess i didn’t support well enough or hit it too hard. What is the best way forward—can I glue/clamp the block in a way that it will be strong enough for the neck? Should I replace the block? I’ve left the ribs in place in the mould but all blocks are free.
This is violin #2. I didn’t have this problem with the first one. Thanks for any suggestions. |

Thank you! I assumed this was the case but nice to have confirmation from a pro. Thanks also for all of the knowledge you’ve shared online, Mr. Darnton—it has been extremely helpful. |
