Against all teacher`s advice Phillipe Harschorn did his own thing when playing .His bow strokes ended up miles offline in a few films still available for our enjoyment .Try Ravel`s Tziganne as a perfect example of imperfect bowing .Does it really matter all that much anyway? Nature abhors a vaccuum . If there is no rule --invent one . What is happening between the bow hair and the string ? Would a few shocking degrees offline alter the action of rosin on string ?
