OK, having visited Sinopia in San Francisco, that's a little scary. It appears, and I'm wondering if that's the case, that Sinopia is just the new US distributor of the same old German company, which would be reassuring.

Don't know... The Sinopia page mentions they carry "the product line", but they also mention that the NY store still exists and they will consolidate the ordering procedure. Haven't tried to make an order since the change.
