Hello,

It´s the first time I unglue a fingerboard. Could the Experts tell me any advise or procedure to do it? It´s bassically the same operation in all stringed instruments?

I use a clothes-iron to warm the ebony through. Then I use the iron to heat a very thin, dull knife, and slide it btween the FB and neck. Usually that works very well. Go slowly, and be careful where you are pointing that knife when you push.

Sometimes a small amount of alcohol will help dehydrate the glue and make it more brittle. Just don't spill it on the varnish-- drip it on the knife blade, and let it run into the opening.

Do you apply the iron directly to the ebony?
