I don't know about bassbars, but have you tried a thicker bridge?.....
If its very strident and lacking complexity you could look at the thickness of the ribs...are they very thick...ie: sunlight or an led won't shine through?

Thanks for the reply I will try a thicker bridge The ribs are one mm
A flashlight did shine through when i thined them .

A friend has fiddle that has a bass bar with a verry high arch for about two inches or so,Then drops off quick This fiddle is loud The tag is almost gone what is left
looks like made by stout .....F .D .S It has been repaired & a note
with it saying 1886 made after amatti Familey Hard to say could be a copy Any comment on the letters Ken
