Just got my first Dominant string set. I have been using the metal Whitner
tailpiece with 4 integrated fine tuners. I have been running Violinos
up to now and also Zyex a short time. No breakage problems so far.
My question is:
Will the whittner's integrated tuners damage the dominants ?
Or do the little "ramps" the whitner uses as string pressure points
protect them ?
I have never really heard an understandable explanation
as to exactly how normal fine tuners make perlon strings prematurely
fail.
I don't want to ruin a brand new set of "not cheap" strings !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have exactly the same strings and tailpiece, but the fine tuners are all but useless for perlon strings, to bring the string up to pitch it takes quite a number of turns compared to steel strings. The pegs work better for tuning gut or synthetic core strings and just having a single fine tuner for a steel E.
