This is "Fiammetta", my latest 16 inches viola. Thanks to Andrès Lepage for the photos.
Ecco la mia ultima viola "Fiammetta" (nota cortigianna Romana), una 40.8. Le fotografie sono di Andrès Lepage:

Another beautiful instrument! The color is radiant and deep and I like the confidence in your quick workmanship. How do you have time to do any thing else but making?

You must do a varnish/ground tutorial. The results you realize are absolutely superb! |

Thanks!
The problem with making a ground tutorial is that I'm a one man business and while varnish my hands are quite dirt and I have to work fast while varnish, I would have no time to take the pictures...
The other problem is that varnishing is a dynamic and ever changing process... depending on the wood we will do different things. _________________ www.manfio.com

Very nice, Manfio!
I'm always surprised, how fast you are. One month inclusive varnish.
When do you sleep?

congratulation ! your instruments always look great !
would Simeon's low price wood still be good for making instruments?
Are Simeon's low density wood particularly good in your opinion? _________________ Newbie Maker Kelvin |

I just love the consistency of your varnish from instrument to instrument... would love to see it on a cello!
Start doing some push ups, jogging 10 km a day and you'll be ready soon!

Very nice.
The upper boue piece of work!
The upper bouts seem to be a bit short. is it the camera angle or on purpose.
Nide width! looks like it will be a boomer!!!

Thanks!
Kel, this was a "fine" quality, with some wavings on the grain (which I like) and low density, it weighted 10 or 15 grams less than usual. I had to correct a bit the cut of this wood, just that, Chambers' fine wood is quite good also.
Actonern: Landon asked me to make cellos... that's hard work, but I'll think about that.
Jack, the upper bouts are short indeed. I kept the same width of my bigger violas and shortened the lower and upper bouts. I did that to profit from my experience with the bigger violas. _________________ www.manfio.com
