Does anyone keep mothballs in their violin case to keep the bowhair
bugs away? Is there a better smelling alternative, or do you think it
is necessary at all?

If I see that bowhair bugs are in my bowhair I set the open case and bow out in the sun for several hours. The uv light kills the bugs and larva. Then I vacum the case out. I haven't had any problems with this not working or the bugs coming back.

Bay leaves are a staple for cooking and in particular pickling... any grocery store should carry it. All bulk food stores carry it.... in Canada anyway!
Cheers, Mat

Guess that goes to show you that I don't do much grocery shopping.
All I remember is the BayRum that my father used. I have asked the
wife to pick me up some, next trip to the store.
Thanks Matt.
