I still have trouble logging on, so I don''t post much. I think that most of the times I haven't got a response to a question was when it may seem apparent to others that I've already found the answer and was just fishing for confirmation. Or maybe as you said,they thought it was a dumb question, or just don't want to give up a trade secret. Don't think it was a dumb question, at least you're thinking!
I would guess on the long arch since the bridge is the point of contact to the strings put the high point of the belly there, or close to it. That way the bass bar can transmit motion more evenly between the top and bottom bouts. Remember this stuff is mosty by eye, they didn't put them on a CMM to find the exact high point. The back may not be quite as important. Every maker seems to have their own idea on that, some are higher up, some are even with the belly. |
