There is an interesting article in the Strad check the title "A Final Bow"
http://www.thestrad.com/Strad_content.asp
....apparently due to the shortage and endangerment of the Pau Brazil tree from which pernambuco is harvested, by the end of the summer one will need a government permit to carry a pernambuco bow across international borders in order to prove that it is not contraband.
Time to buy up the already cut inventory?

More like time to buy a CF bow.
It's been 'time' to buy up pernambuco for years. It may well be time to stop traveling with it very soon.
I think there may be new information on this issue out there, maybe not as bad as at first it seemed? I saw an article on the latest from the CITES conference somewhere. |

This is third hand info... I heard that the restriction as finally passed applies only to raw wood ... not finished goods.
