Here is an interesting article on NPR about the top twenty orchestras in the world. Apparently Gramophone Magazine went to a number of music critics from around the world to judge the orchestras and rate them accordingly. Keep in mind that each of the reviewers was separate and spread among different countries. Food for thought.
