Just been playing around with it a little...
I bought the heaviest duty one they had; one of the heavy metal ones...
I was amazed by how much it cut the sound.
It is funny, the sound is so quiet it is like a nat were humming the tunes.
Not only that but there is quite a difference in the resistance of the bow which I presume is to do with the lesser vibration of the strings. When bowing it feels alot softer and glides more. Not a big thing but noticeable. I'm sure purists would be annoyed by this but I will get used to it.
It felt good to be able to play and not be self conscious since that was hindering my enjoyment of practice.
I think this mute is even a little heavy duty for daytime- it mutes so much you could prob have someone in the same room and not complain. I think I'll be getting another one which is in between for daytime practice and use this one late into the night. |
