I'm playing bach a minor, and the positions are not written on the sheet music, I could either play the first couple of notes in 1st or 3rd positions, could i play it either way or there is one correct way? |

Are the first two notes a dotted E and an undotted A on the E string, first movement in Allegro moderato?
If you do some research on the fingerings used by great violinist for various pieces, you will find out that there isn't any one "correct" pattern. The fingering pattern you choose ultimately depends on the balance between the sound you wish to derive from it, and the ease of playing. |
