I have noted that some violins have a black color in some parts of the belly, usually the center. Then I wonder if it's some lighting problem regarding the images or a proposital blend of varnish collors. I got an old violin (with a very old coffin case). The central part of the belly has a black collor wich I suppose is impossible to clear. Would it be original or any varnish chemical alteration? The violin has the appearence of a Neuner, with clear borders, but there are no labels or marks inside. Just a drop of white glue that seems not to have been touched. A no name copy? _________________ Kind Regards!

Sometimes rosin left on the belly for a long time can turn black, possibly in part from trapping dirt. |
