|
|
Hi, my name is Ryan and am hoping that someone here may be able to help identify a violin for me. It has a label on the inside that reads Monzino & Figli, it belonged to a friend of mines late father and they are looking to sell it but I have read on other sites that this particular brand has been copied in recent years and the last thing I wish to do is sell someone a fake or copy. If anyone can help that would be great. I have some pictures which I can email if needed. Thanks in advance Ryan |

Ryan... It is impossible to identify an instrument by description or even pictures.
The best solution is to visit a reputable luthier for a start and then be guided to a reputable appraiser.
You may wish to repost with some pics in the makers section of this forum and you may get some comments... Not sure how many will read this section of the forum.
Good luck!... Mat |

The Monzinos had a big and important violin firm in Milan, and employed many violin makers (Severino Riva, for instance) that not belonged to the family. I learned it from my violin lessons teacher.. |
