Something I have wondered about for some time....
Horse hair expands when wet and contracts when dry... that is a fact.
when you comb out the hair in readiness to tie the last knot, the traditional way is to do it with the hair wet. So when the knot is tied the hair is wet, but when the hair dries, that means the hair shrinks and the knot theoretically gets looser.... perhaps that is why I get a lot of rehair jobs where the knot has let go?
Why is it not the normal practice to comb the hair and tie the knot dry?
How do you do it?.... btw ... I have done it dry for the last 10 years with no problems.
Cheers, Mat

Interestingly, I wet & flame the hair as the last thing I do
