Does anyone here know of other active violin making sites, in English, and on the internet, other than;

1. Maestronet
2. Private sites (TOBI, etc.)
3. Here
4. MIMF
or 5. ???
Just a real curiosity about this - thanks

This one is not very active, but we could make it that way, right?
http://www.luthierforum.com/index.php?/forum/21-violin-forum/

This one is a little more active...and you may find some friends there:
http://www.fiddlehangout.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=11

Annnnd...if you are willing to include BASS viols as being "in the violin-family", at least, then there is:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f44/

I'm on eight forums, but two are private and one is only basses--there are others, of course...

I believe that it is already on the way, that's g'zaxtly what I'm thinking, Chet. Simply by posting here regularly.

I know YOU'VE got a grande boca.

I'VE got a grande boca too. I do believe that everybody, everywhere probably knows that already

Rumor has it that Mr. Darnton's boca is, well lets just say that I've seen it in action before, and I believe it can stand up (!) and compete - to put it mildly... with the best of them.

Then theres people here already, like;
Cliff Green - grande boca,
Janito - grande boca,
Matt Roop - Really, really grande boca'
Polkat - el boca este medium-grande,
Joseph Leahy - mucho grande boca & el non-stoppo,
Dave chandler - ditto,
ChuckC - ditto,
Amezecua - ditto,
L P Reedy - ditto,
Okawbow ditto,
John Gia - el repeta, esta mui grande boca y mucho opiniono's.
and others, mucho grande bocas I haven't mentioned, my apologies, but I believe they perhaps recognize themselves as such.
Perhaps ít COULD become more active here?
I mean, perhaps this can be an everyday place to go, or to visit, or streatch out our big mouths?.

And perhaps, not being as large as some of the other venues, is the perfect thing.

I am finding that I enjoy it here. I think I'll tell some of my older, no longer posting at the "old site(s)", friends, that they otta peek in here and see if it is a bit more to their, hmmmm, uh, liking.

It'll be interesting to see .

Hi Craig

I appreciate being included on your short list above. Cool

With my full time occupation, family, etc., I still struggle to find enough time for this craft. However, I have accomplished a few things since we last talked on the phone.

I finally have one repair ready to go out the door.
I am working on a second repair now.
I am about to try my hand at bow rehair with the help of the notes you sent me.
Wood should be on the way in the next week or so.
Just picked up a couple of hand planes and still adding to my tool inventory.

I recently got waylaid from my violin focus when I saw a 1959 Martin D18 that I had to have. Its in for a neck reset now. (Apologies for referencing the G word on this V forum.) Embarassed

I've been asked to perform at a wedding so have some work to do arranging tunes and getting back up to speed with my playing skills.

Back to the thread. I always check in here and have found that things are fairly on point with the help of those you mentioned with special mention to Michael's comments.

Now that you're here on a regular basis, I'll keep a closer eye on the forum. Hope you're feeling well.

Joe
