has only a volume and jack with a shatten pickup, keeping it simple. Its made out of pine and with a light coat of black lacquer, then sprayed with a glossy clear lacquer. Of course it is left handed on the side I have also made some guitars but thats for another forum.
The flame violin, same electronics as the first one

looks good, I can't really see the wood in the flame violin from the pic..
If you have a volume control, are you using a preamp , and if so what type are you using..
are you happy with the sound?? |

I like the sound, I probably could use a preamp but don't have one and the flame violin is made of poplar and is painted solid. thanks _________________ That is some beautiful wood! |

Yes, I made it. It is spruce body and maple neck...
I took me one week to make it. It has a battery inside, just plug in the headphones and play... or you can plug it in the guitar amplifier... sounds great. Bridge pickup and preamp specs: Specs: Function : 1V + 1T Active
Input Impedance : 10Mω
Frequency Response : 20Hz ~ 20KHz

Thanks! No, I didn't make the electronics... although you could make it, but you really need to know what you're doing to make it work properly. Pozdrav! |

I found it on Ebay, and it was very cheap, about 30$, because I didn't want to buy those expensive pickups (you can find them from 100$ to 800$)... I spent about 100 euro for this violin.
I'd say, the biggest disadvantage of this violin is is weight (abt 1kg), I've seen some other electric violins in the shops also were heavy... |

Which wood you've used? Maybe lighter wood can be the solution, because, In my opinion, this construction (with piezo embedded in the bridge) is almost completely insensitive to the material of violin body. So, maybe you can use poplar or even balsa, if you can find the piece big enough. |

Just thinking: almost half of mass could be eliminated by routing the, say, channel from the back, leaving just a few mm for sides and top. This channel, o course, should be then closed by new plate. |

Yes, I was thinking about reducing weight by routing a channel, however it was too late, I didn't want to destroy the paint... But next time I will definitely either make a channel or make it as classical violin, with thin sides, corner blocks and linings. In that case I would need to make a mold... |

If you do that this way, then you will have a lot of possibilities for electrification, I like your idea very much. Maybe I can throw a few ideas about that. |
