Hello forum folk,
I have been reading this very informative forum for some time, so I thought it was time to register.
I've always been fascinated by violin making, and I think it's the time in my life when I can approach it. I've been setting up a small workshop in my basement for general woodworking, slowly gathering materials and tools, and reading, reading, reading. Thank you for sharing all the helpful information I have read here.

Welcome to the forum John, from April Verch country!... just go ahead and ask the questions. What I like about this forum is the no nonsense, just good solid information!
Do some serious repairs on old and cheap violins... you will learn a lot towards making.
I troll the antique shops and occasionally I find old 1700's violins for $25 and $50... they are in terrible shape, but they are a pleasure to restore and in some cases rebuild.
Cheers, Enjoy |

Thank you for the kind welcome, I appreciate it.
Yes, April Verch - I've had the pleasure of accompanying April a few times, and I can tell you that as fine a fiddler as she is, she's an even nicer person.
All the best,
- John |
