Hi.
I learn a carrer in another country and I have a violin there a started learning by my own some months ago.
now I 'm at home and found an excellent teacher to learn with him this month until I go back to university.
The problem is that I didn't bring home my violin and the teacher says that learning with his instrument, that is way better than mine, may not be worth it, because I'll need to relearn everything with my violin.
What do you say?

You say excellent teacher? Then it's no problem. You should be able to
play other violins, since they all use the same skill. If you are playing well
on his instrument, and your instrument doesn't sound good, chances are
your instrument is the problem.

When you go back to university, visit the music department and ask any
teacher of stringed instruments where they get their instruments setup
(by violin makers or luthiers). Take your violin to the luthier for inspection.
Then you'll have a better idea of where you stand in relation to your playing.
