Hi I have to make up some wedges for re-hairing what do I need to look out for in the best fit. I have put something in to the frog end and I'm not happy with it. it is my first time so I might be too critical.
Any advice welcome. |

Hi Ian,
Have you already read the booklet, The Rehairing of Bows, through the link on the Resources sticky? There are drawings of the different plugs, from various angles. In the end, it depends on the mortise you're fitting the plug into. Just don't make them too tight, especially on the sides. Lots of heads get blown out from plugs that are just too big. They're really kept in place by the angles at the front of the head, and the back of the frog.
Craig Tucker, who visits this forum. has also created a very helpful video and some written instructions on rehairing, if you can persuade him to send those to you.
