I THINK I now understand what I'm seeing. Best guess is that he developed the design as he went, using whatever materials were handy, then just made them all alike. |

Chet, something that may be of interest, as you pursue tranquility in the gluing of rib garland to plates, is to paint the glue on to the rib edge and blocks and then let it set well... I leave for about an hour, so it isn't glass hard, but no longer a gel either.
Then you can just clamp it up like you do, remove a few clamps at a time, and run a hot wet thin feeler gauge between the gluing surfaces. Works like a charm.
And... rather than wiping of any oozage with hot wet cloths, just let it gell up good, and then run a 90 degree edge tool like a chisel around the rib/plates. It will roll up and away like jello... and no "glue ghosts." |

Thanks, Ernie!
Sam Compton taught me that way years ago, but not with the wet feeler gauge trick. I may have to try that.
You are right about the danger of glue-ghosts, too. I used to use a water-thin glue sealer coat, but now that I have stopped that, perhaps I should be more careful about glue ghosts.
Thanks again. _________________ Chet Bishop
