I've had the wierdest thing happened for about a week, on a violin that has been finished for several months now . Its stopped doing it now, but still, wierd. It has Eva P Gold strings on it and lately the G seems to be creeping up in tone and every day I have to let off tension. I can't see anything physical going on.

Violin completed several years ago, but I put a new top, very old wood, about 4-5 weeks ago. Revarnished entire violin.

I usually leave it out sitting in its case when not playing so its got constant exposure to room temps and humidity. But why the G, and why UP in tone?

The only thing I could think of is an increase in humidity. Pianos do that in the center of their range--the center of the soundboard rises, but the edges are held down. In the violin, the post might be stabilizing that side dissimilarly to the bar.
