I would like to know if anyone can give me a good source of soft italian
music that an intermediate (5 years) can learn. I don't read music very
well (ear trained), but I can sort it out if I can listen and read the music
slowly. I would love this for my wife.

MLM - there is a CBS Masterworks Dinner Classics, Italian Album CD if this is the tye of thing that might be helpful...Puccini,Verdi, etc., if this is the sort of thing you mean. You can take a look at it at Amazon to see if this is the type of music you are after:

You could probably get the sheetmusic to some of this fairly easily.
