|
|
I am prepared to purchase a new violin kit and would like some advice as to which models to look at and about what price can I expect? Is there a price I should avoid such as ....beginner violin package 69.00 ?etc.
Thanks to all who answer.

I have never purchased a violin kit, but my guess is that what you buy will depend on why you are buying.
If you are buying to end up with a good playing instrument, then spend some time on looking at the product before you buy to be sure it is cleanly and carefully made... and to standard dimensions. If you are buying to practice varnishing, then it may not matter much as to what you will buy. If you are buying to practice repairs and assembly... buy the cheapest going and rebuild/regraduate all the parts to get as close to standard as possibel...you may actually end up with a good sounding violin!

Just read your other post.... If you buy a violin Kit... and are so inclined...it won't be that much harder to convert the top to a left hand version!.
You will have a fairly rare instrument... and a good story to go with it!

Hi again, Vguy - you might take a look at the kits offered by
http://www.sharmusic.com/default.asp
or
http://www.johnsonstring.com/
to get an idea of what is available - these are two dependable stores.
Also, it goes without saying, that the sponsor of this forum may also be able to help you - click on on his link right under the title of this forum.
