I fear I may be aquiring violin varnish derangement syndrome.

Do any of you who prepare your own oil based varnishes have experience on the general effect of shorter vs. longer cooking times on the same formula of ingredients?

I'm going to prepare a batch of the "marciana" varnish (except with walnut oil,) and would like to know what difference time-on-heat makes to the final result. Some makers cook for 15 minutes, some for hours.

Thanks in advance...
