1. good strings will make a big diffeerence if the strings on the violin are cheap ones. Try synoxa or Dominant. they are a bit pricey but do add quality.
2. hard to tell, some people get good deals, good sounding violins can be had for cheap on ebay but it is not recommended for the beginer. good strings might help first.
3. I do not go by makes or models, most of the stuff coming out of china in th elow range is just too similar.
good beginer violins start at around $600 with a case and a bow.

I can answer your third question.
The model I would recommend would be a Franz Hoffman Maestro. I'll give you the link to it, and yeah. http://www.sharmusic.com/moreinfogroupviolin.asp?t1=svb44The varnish on the smaller ones tends to be lighter, but it still looks very good. On the full the varnish is darker and warmer. The bow that comes with the full has a pretty snakewood look to it, if you look close enough. Hope I helped- |
