Ha ha ha. I am a professional now. I really really want to play Mozart's Violin Concerto No.5. Can I just skip book 8 and go on to book 9?

Zowie! I'm impressed! Way t'go! What is book eight like? Just a few pieces? (I won't be around to answer for a week, but I'll be back!)

And continued good luck - we will all want to hear a recording of your Mozart next year!

Why don't you try the first movement of Mozart's Concerto No. 3 instead of the No. 5? I've always heard that No. 3 is the one students should try first. Several of my teachers have always told me that. Could they be wrong?

No, you got it backwards. I am supposed to play No. 5 in Book 9 (which I purchased today), and play no. 4 in Book 10. I have looked at the scores of both and I can tell you for sure that No. 3 is the harder one to play. Oh yeah, about book 8 - it's not much different from book 7 except slightly harder.
