Hi
I am looking for ways to record violin.
What i have right now is a low price Skype mic with a computer and freeware.

The result is : I can record something but the deviation from the actual violin sound with the playback is unacceptable. Overall the playback has a nasal effect which is quite non-appetizing.

Check the internet, seems that if i really want to have some good recording, i need a violin pickup , should i?
What device should i buy? Could some one familiar with this please make some suggestion ? I need to wire to the computer to record.

1) violin pickup?
2) a good condenser microphone?
3) a preamp?

A few years ago, I bought a system called Cubase System 4, and I've been very happy with it. This system came with a USB interface that allows me to connect two microphones and/or line inputs, and Cubase is a very good (professional-level) recording software. ProTools is another, and they also sell a complete system with interface. The cost is very reasonable, my basic setup cost me about $700, for the software/interface system. For another few hundred, I got a good large-diaphragm condenser microphone (Apex 415). Do a bit of research, and get a system like that...
